Replace center console pad in our 01 Ford Super duty F 250

Recently replaced seat covers. Tucking in center Console cover under the cupholder pad or armrest proved kind of pointless. Our center console pad, like many of these older Ford trucks, is shrinking/curling up and separating. having ignored for the last few years decided to fix or replace.

I attempted to removed pad and reattach the pad to base.

Basically the pad is 2 pieces, pad attached to a plastic base that snaps onto console lid.

Following several Youtube videos that show how, pad is simply pulled off.

Then using 'maps' mark location of clips & drill holes thru base, insert screwdriver thru to release the clips. Once removed reattach the pad to base, reinstall. Many take pieces to an upholsterer,

One of many videos showing process...Youtube video...

Though I successfully removed the pad and its plastic base (only broke 2 clips) I was not able to reattach pad to base. Tried different staplers but the plastic base either just shattered or wouldn't penetrate. Gave up and ordered a replacement pad.

Many sources for replacement pads. I ordered a $13 unit thru Ebay (search Ebay. Color/texture is good, fit is good. I will note all the aftermarket replacements are NOT padded, they are rigid plastic. I dont use as armrest so ok.

New unit simply snaps on like original

Nice to see flat again.

$13 bucks- pretty impressed...

If you need the padding, only option I am aware off is taking the removed pieces and trying to reattach. An upholsterer may have more success but its not cheap. My only recommendation is going thru removal process of marking/drilling to remove plastic base. The plastic base can be just physically ripped off but it leaves the clips to fall inside of console. Which really doesn't hurt but...

Prices of replacment pads all over the map...As these all come from china I assume like other import products they are same units sold by different vendors..
