Ok some time later....Ive finished my stair adjuster project. I also added a landing. Cant see in the pics but the back of new landing has clips that bolt to stair legs.
Heres a pics of stairs fully up & fully down. Should have put a ruler beside them-but if you note the vise the top of stairs is against you can see the height difference better.

Here are pics, stairs up& down again but with new landing attached. It also has adjustable feet and can be height adjusted as well. In useage the j bolts would be rotated under steps

As you can see, the stairs can be adjusted a bit higher then the landing, hopefully this will never be needed, and I cant imagine it will-but the ability is there. I intensionally made the landing no higher than Id want to step off.
With the addition of the attached landing really plants the end of the stairs.
Like I said earlier, though the ability to raise steps may not be utilized that much, seems like they're always off an 1" or 2" side to side, never trusted 'shiming' them. The new landing is a great addtion, though I added beacause I wanted to insure we didnt use the stool, it makes gettin on and off the steps nicer cause its wider.
Hmmm got home from work and Margaret was loading the camper- Wow. Guess I 'll get some action pics of this fun project.
