Well not much here and not much to described. I simply hate the fuzzy crap they use in cars. Plus the fuzz constantly floats around. Id like to upholster but for now I decided to paint headliner and visors. My F250 I had painted the visors to match the vinyl headliner I added, so figured heck, just paint the Ranger. The Ranger is all gray inside EXCEPT the headliner & visors, They were white? So after removing plastic pieces around doors, (they just pull off with a bit of effort) partially loosen or remove the back quarter panels, removed headliner, visors and clips. I used krylon plastic fusion paint. For the top you probably could use anything, but for the plastic pieces to match I used all the same paint. Pretty close match to rest of plastic pieces and gray fabric behind seat. I also switched back and forth between gray and black on fabric, just a bit of far away fogging with black.
There are a couple of push plugs in the headliner, I broke one, so you might want to just pick up a couple just in case. Its a tight fit getting head liner out of cab with seats in, try to remember how you got it out, I almost didn't get mine back in!
When painting use lots of light coats, you don't want the top getting WET. Cover full back and forth motion with light coats edge to edge, horizontally let sit a minute then vertically then at an angle, then opposite angle, then horizontally then vertically then....Well you get the point-its difficult so it doesn't stripe, just take your time. The visors were difficult because of the band, you got to pull it to one side then the other way to paint as best you can behind it.
Be prepared to leave it out for a couple of days-Really smells. Also when replacing plastic trim pieces I used grease on the clips,. so there easier to get out next time. If you haven't a power wire from the head light switch to interior light (or just a hot lead), while you have headliner off would be a good time to add., The newer fords that don't have map light also don't have a power lead, 03 up i think. Older ones do, I added & switch on light because I wanted to turn light on/off regardless of door or headlight switch, later I'll add a interior light from late Mustang, F250 truck etc. which will need the power wire.
Notice anything bout the visors? No idiot warning labels. On my F250 i just painted over them, ended up with shiny squares. No matter what the labels are going, tried several methods then found just the right amount of heat from a hair dryer and they just peel off. Caution, if too hot
you'll pull the fuzz of too. Better than the stupid WARNING WARNING HAZaRD CAUTION hangin in front of your face, sorry if your the moron thats need these, maybe you should walk-MHO. I mean maybe some folks need them-but how long does it take to learn that they need to be pemanetly attached?
