No, no fancy leds or strobe, just a switch to funky lil light.
Interior light just annoyed me, couldn't turn it off, couldn't turn it on or at least longer than auto switch said. I find those automatic, uncontrollable features just stupid/ frustrating. On some cars least you could switch light between manual and auto. So I disabled it.
Down the road Im going to put in a light from mustang or F250 etc that has manual map lights and auto main bulb. On our F250 I added a switch to turn rear 3rd brake light off because of the camper, I also added a switch to turn off bed lights, Having lights shining in the bed every time you open door is dumb. On this Ranger I don't see ever taking shell off so I just removed bulbs for 3rd brake light & bed lights for now. When I get new fixture Ill do the same mods I did to the F250 light. Either way to fix this interior light or for new light down the road, I needed to add power wire.
All I wanted was to be able to turn it on/off. This involved running a new wire from fuse block, (not the timed headlight thing). Cut a hole and add switch to lens. Now I can turn light on/off anytime I want, for as long as I want. Heck, I can even forget to turn it off and it'll kill my battery over night now
TAKE that Mr Ford!
I ran 3 wires from light, (2) 16g & (1)14g. (1) 16g is tied to 3rd brake light and feeds camper 3rd brake light. (behind interior light is access to 3rd brake light). The other 16g goes to camper interior light. The 14g to 12v source which feed both lights. I ran wires from light, down the rear pillar, where there's a junction. The 14g 12v source feed goes under door sill, thru firewall to main terminals on engine fuse block. The other 2 16g wires go thru floor to rear of camper, come up thru taillight into bed. The large 10g wire feeds shown in the pic runs to inside of camper to power supply in bed. (See Charger page also linked on main page)
